Intensive In-Home services are intensive, time limited interventions provided mainly in the residence of the child. Individuals must demonstrate a clinical necessity arising from a severe condition due to mental, behavioral, or emotional illness that results in significant functional impairments in major life activities.
In most cases the family should be actively involved in the treatment of the child including family counseling/therapy. IIH services are focused on family preservation interventions for children and adolescents who have or are at risk of serious emotional disturbance, including individuals who also have a diagnosis of developmental disability. Services are provided to an individual who is at risk of being moved to out-of-home placement or who is being transitioned back home from an out-of-home placement. The service includes 24-hour per day emergency response; crisis treatment; individual and family counseling; life, parenting, and communication skills; and case management and coordination with other services.
